Beach meditation

I teach Meditation for Relaxation Classes. Meditation can make such a great impact on your life. We are constantly running around, with no time for ourselves in this hectic lifestyle that we lead. By learning to meditate you can learn how to step off that hectic treadmill. You will be able to see things with much more clarity. Your health will also improve, meditation helps reduce stress. Each month I will give you a different meditation to try. If possible take some relaxing music on an IPod etc. Or just enjoy the beautiful sounds of Mother Nature all around. I'm a great believer in getting outdoors in the fresh air. It really blows away the cobwebs. So why not try this outdoor meditation, as meditation takes many forms. Meditation can be done anywhere. Find somewhere peaceful to walk, your favourite beach perhaps. You can always record yourself reading this meditation out aloud and then play it back with some relaxing music.
Beach Mediation
Visualise yourself outside walking along a grassy pathway. In the distance you can hear the roar of the waves crashing onto the beach. You can taste the salt air on your lips. Step from the pathway onto the soft sand. Take a few deep breaths, really filling you lungs, feel your chest expanding. As you breathe in, feel the fresh salty sea air cleansing you lungs, as you breathe out feel all your worries, stress or ill health release from you body. Do this a few times, until your breathing falls into a gentle rhythm. Make your way down to the waters edge. As you are walking I want you to keep your focus on your feet. Being aware if the rise and fall of each footstep. Don't look up just keep watching your feet. Also by focusing on the rise and fall of your footsteps. You are stopping all the stupid everyday thoughts that run through your mind. This will help you to keep your mind clear and see things with clarity. Continue to do this for the duration of the walk. All the while you are aware of the sounds all around you. From the cry of the seagulls over head, the warm sun shinning on your face, top the gentle breeze blowing on your skin. As you are walking by the waters edge. The waves rush in with a vibrant new energy. As the waves then rush back out taking with them all your worries or stress. So each time they rush in you feel re-energised and as they retreat they are taking away any negative energy from you. Negative energy can be depression, ill health, worry, stress etc. You need to release this negative energy as it stops you from moving forward in your life. You can feel your energy changing your mood becomes lighter. The golden glow from the warm sun shinning on your face radiates through your whole body. Warmth spreads through your body. Continue walking along the beach for as long as you feel is necessary. As you walk back retracing your steps. I want you to reflect on how different you feel now. Has your energy changed, do you feel more uplifted? Remember you can do this meditation as many times as you want. Enjoy.
